See Me by Nicholas Sparks

I am a massive Nicholas Sparks fan. I've read EVERY book he's ever written. My favorites are: A Walk to Remember and the Last Song.

I was excited to read Nicholas Sparks' newest book, See Me. I broke my rule of not reading a book for fun during the semester, but I was on a waiting list at the library and couldn't give up my spot.

See Me is about a Mexican women, named Maria in her late 20s and her family. Since I'm Mexican, I thought it could be even more interesting.

All the books involve love and plot twists you don't see coming, so this one was no different. Let's see...Maria works in a law office. She meets a tattooed guy often on the wrong side of the law. Colin is going to school to be a teacher, tends bar, and is an MMA fighter. They come from very different worlds, but still fall in love. Shocking, right?!

A twist is that Maria gets a stalker. Yeah, I know; weird. Then the stalker gets violent. Then, there turns out to be 2 stalkers, but no one can figure out who they are until the end. Maria and her family's safety is at risk. Colin wants to protect her, but can't get in any trouble with the law or risk going to prison. Yada, yada, yada. They all live and stay together, while the stalkers face justice and unhappy fates. Pretty much just like we want plots to end, right?

It was an interesting read, but not one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks' books. Here's hoping they don't make it into a movie!

Reading

I love to read and over summer decided to get some reading in before class starts. I've been wanting to read the 5 Love Languages, so I grabbed a copy. The book emphasized that you should learn the love languages of your loved ones. If you know their love languages you can speak to them in their language. So what does that mean? Well, my love language is Words of Affirmation. If someone wants to "speak my language," they could send me a text mentioning what they appreciate about me. That's a general example, but the gist of it is that we normally love people the way we prefer to be loved, but that might not be that person's love language. We feel most loved when loved according to our primary love language. The book gave several examples of ways to love people based on the five love languages. The five languages are: 1) Words of Affirmation, 2) Physical Touch, 3) Quality Time, 4) Gifts, and 5) Acts of Service. The book is well-written by Gary Chapman and I definitely recommend it. Shouldn't we all love each other the way they makes each other feel most loved?

I just realized that Nicholas Sparks wrote a new book that I somehow missed. I read all of Nicholas Sparks books. So, I got the book, At First Sight and read it fast. I can never put his books down. His books are generally all love stories. It follows an engaged couple. The guy moves from NYC to the small, southern town his fiancee lives in. The book kind of feels like a mystery. The fiance, Jeremy struggles with living in a small town, maintaining his writing career, getting married, and expecting a baby with someone he hasn't known long. There are lots of twists and turns in the book; it doesn't necessarily have a happy ending, but I guess that's life. Is your interest piqued? Are you going to read it?

Happy Happy Happy

All semester, all I wanted was to be done with the semester and able to read something for fun. I dreamed of curling up on the couch with a book. Thankfully, I finished the semester last week with a B. That was the hardest I've ever worked for a B! Anyway, I was able to finally read, Nicholas Sparks', new book The Longest Ride. I've read all of his books. This book came out in September. It took me one day to read it.

So, what's it about? Hmmm, where there are two stories that don't seem to intersect. One was with a couple during World War II. The other was a couple; a cowboy and a sorority girl. At the end, the two stories come together and it ends really well, so I was pretty happy.

Now, I'm going to try to finish Born to Run which I started this fall and had to stop because I ran out of time. My goal is to finish it this week. :)
